Meeting Space
Taking my cues from the Japanese notion of Wabi-sabi, this project focused on the beauty of transience, decay and being moved by the imperfect.
In creating this work, my aim was to transform the context of the urban space in which this painting was installed and temporarily transform it into a place of reflection, stirring throughs and emotions of whoever happened to pass by.
I documented the decay of the work over the course of a month, giving it a platform to playout its limited lifespace as it interacted with nature's elements.
It was a cold winter back in 2012/13 i loved the way it made the oil paint crack.
